Passports
Kosovo is not a member of the European Union or the Schengen Area, but it enjoys visa-free travel arrangements with many countries and maintains open land borders with Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
EU nationals: Citizens of EU and EEA countries can enter Kosovo with a valid passport or national ID card for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
Non-EU nationals: Travellers must hold a valid passport issued within the past ten years. You may also be asked to show proof of accommodation, return travel, and sufficient funds.
The border crossings between Serbia and Kosovo are not recognised by Serbian authorities as official international borders. Travellers entering Kosovo directly from Serbia may return to Serbia without issue, but entry from Kosovo into Serbia is not permitted unless you hold a valid Serbian entry stamp obtained at an official Serbian border crossing or airport. Travellers without this stamp are likely to be refused entry. It is advisable to enter Serbia via a third country. Some visitors have reported Serbian border guards cancelling or objecting to Kosovo entry stamps. Tensions between Serbia and Kosovo may occasionally affect crossings.

Non-EU nationals: Kosovo's visa policy closely follows the European Union's rules. Nationals of countries that can visit the Schengen Area visa-free may also enter Kosovo without a visa for up to 90 days within a 180-day period.
Types and Cost
Visa fees vary by nationality and visa type. Travellers should check with the nearest Kosovo embassy or consulate for the current applicable fee. Certain categories, such as students, researchers, and official delegations, may be exempt from fees.
Validity
Short-stay visas allow a stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Long-stay (D) visas are issued for residence, study, or work purposes and are typically valid for one year.
Application to
Visa applications must be submitted in person at the nearest Kosovo embassy or consulate. Applications are processed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Department for Citizenship, Asylum and Migration).
Working days
Visa processing usually takes 10–15 working days but may take longer depending on nationality and documentation.
